Two points from two games for Liverpool. This is not the kind of bother and strife that’s afflicting their next opponents Manchester United, who they face at Old Trafford next Monday.
But it is an opening sequence of results that leaves Liverpool four points behind champions and great rivals Manchester City and for Jurgen Klopp that will be troubling enough
Klopp’s team got exactly what they deserved here in that they got something but not everything. They were the game’s dominant team, even during the final half an hour they played with ten men after the sending off of their new centre forward Darwin Nunez. By close of play not long before 10pm they had registered 24 shots to Crystal Palace’s seven.
