Erik ten Hag is reportedly considering stripping Harry Maguire of Manchester United captaincy and replacing him with current Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger, according to reports.

Ten Hag will become Manchester United’s new permanent manager at the end of the season.

It is understood he will make a number of changes with some reports suggesting he will strip the captaincy from Maguire.

The Daily Mirror says Ten Hag want a move for Rudiger, who is expected to leave Chelsea this summer when his contract expires.

Rudiger, 29, has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid and Juventus.

Manchester United have also been heavily linked, but it appears the Germany international is reluctant to move to Old Trafford despite preliminary talks.

According to the paper, Rudiger is hesitant to move to Old Trafford as he is unsure whether they will play in the Champions League every season.

Rudiger has been at Chelsea since 2017 following his 29million move from AS Roma.

He has been in consistent form this season, making 47 appearances in all competitions.
