Manager Erik ten Hag faces a tough test as his Manchester United debut match is against arch-rivals Liverpool.

Manchester United have finally confirmed that the 52-year-old current Ajax boss will be their new permanent manager this summer.

Ten Hag has penned a deal until the summer of 2025.

He is now turning his attention to Ajax as he looks to lead them to their third league title during his time at the club before moving to the Premier League at the end of the season.

However, the Dutchman will have a difficult start to his life at United even if it is a friendly.

The club will face arch-rivals Liverpool in their first pre-season tour.

The friendly is part of the Centenary Cup which will take place in the Thai capital Bangkok on July 12.

The Red Devils will then fly to Melbourne for the first time since 1999.

They will play Australian side Melbourne Victory on July 15 before taking on Crystal Palace on July 19.

But the game against Liverpool will be a worry for new boss Erik ten Hag, who is looking to make a successful start to his United career.

Although it is a friendly, United and Ten Hag fans will want to at least regain their reputation when the two clubs meet in Thailand.
