How Man United might lineup if Cristiano Ronaldo is available to face Arsenal

Man United may have Cristiano Ronaldo available for their critical match against top-four opponents Arsenal.

The 37-year-old was absent from United’s 4-0 loss at Liverpool on Tuesday.

Ronaldo’s newborn baby died unexpectedly, and he was granted compassionate leave to spend time with his family and fiancée Georgina Rodriguez.

However, the Manchester United star has returned to training in recent days and is expected to play against Arsenal on Saturday.

Despite receiving a bomb threat, club captain Harry Maguire is prepared for this weekend’s game.

Cheshire police have dispatched sniffer dogs to the property where Maguire lives with his girlfriend Fern Hawkins and their two kids.

Ralf Rangnick, the interim manager, described the occurrence as “another horrible evidence of the insane society we live in.”

“I haven’t seen him since I only found out about this dreadful, terrible situation yesterday afternoon and I haven’t been able to talk with him,” Rangnick explained.

“It’s another awful symptom of the strange world we live in; I feel sad for Harry because he had that dreadful experience; he knows the club and his teammates are behind him.” It’s tragic enough that such things occur.”

United will be missing midfielder Paul Pogba, who suffered a knock early in the first half at Anfield.

And the 4-0 defeat might be his final appearance in a Man United shirt.

The Frenchman’s contract expires this summer, and he appears set to depart Old Trafford for free for the second time in his career.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has indicated that Pogba’s injury would require at least four weeks to heal.

“Paul has received an A-scan,” Rangnick stated per The Sun. He is unlikely to play again this season.

“The doctor informed me it will take at least four weeks for him to recuperate, and the last game is at the end of May.” I don’t think he’ll be able to play again.”

Rangnick might go from the back three he used against Liverpool to a back four.

Captain Maguire would almost probably return to the starting lineup.

Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof may be benched, with summer addition Raphael Varane returning to training after missing the previous three games due to injury.

With left-back Luke Shaw likely sidelined for the rest of the season, Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka might maintain their spots at wing-back.

Scott McTominay might find himself in midfield with youngster Hannibal Mejbri and Bruno Fernandes.

Mejbri was commended for his brief appearance in the 4-0 loss to Liverpool, demonstrating a fight that several experienced players lacked.

Anthony Elanga and Jadon Sancho might join Ronaldo in the attack.

Alternatively, if Varane is considered insufficiently fit, Lindelof, despite his gaffe against Liverpool, might start.

Jesse Lingard, who has a great record against the Gunners, might potentially get a rare start.

Lingard has five goals and three assists in 10 appearances versus Arsenal.

MAN UNITED POSSIBLE XI:
(4-3-3): De Gea; Dalot, Maguire, Varane, Wan-Bissaka; McTominay, Mejbri, Bruno Fernandes; Elanga, Ronaldo, Sancho
