Ecuador emerged victorious from the opening game of the 2022 World Cup after beating hosts Qatar 2-0
Enner Valencia scored both of Ecuador’s goals and even had one goal disallowed in the first half of the game
Valencia, 33, found the back of the net after Qatar’s goalkeeper Saad Alsheeb made a mess of his clearance
But, the goal was ruled out after a lengthy VAR check as they felt Michael Estrada’s right leg made him offside
Valencia was awarded a penalty in the 16th minute of the game after keeper Alsheeb took him out in the box
He slotted it into the bottom right corner before scoring against in the 31st minute of the World Cup game
