{"id":182726,"date":"2022-09-18T12:17:53","date_gmt":"2022-09-18T09:17:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wardoon.net\/en\/?p=182726"},"modified":"2022-09-18T12:17:53","modified_gmt":"2022-09-18T09:17:53","slug":"civilians-will-appoint-top-leaders-sudan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/wardoon.net\/en\/civilians-will-appoint-top-leaders-sudan\/","title":{"rendered":"Civilians will appoint top leaders Sudan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-182727\" src=\"http:\/\/wardoon.net\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/3447421-1954279704.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"670\" height=\"448\" srcset=\"http:\/\/wardoon.net\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/3447421-1954279704.webp 670w, http:\/\/wardoon.net\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/3447421-1954279704-300x201.webp 300w, http:\/\/wardoon.net\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/3447421-1954279704-628x420.webp 628w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 670px) 100vw, 670px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>KHARTOUM: Sudan\u2019s generals have agreed to leave the choice of future heads of state and prime ministers to civilian political factions, the deputy head of the military government has announced.<br \/>\nThe announcement was made by paramilitary commander Mohamed Hamdan Daglo following a meeting with army chief Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan who led a military coup last year.<br \/>\nBut he gave no indication of when power might be returned to civilians amid the persistent failure of talks with the main civilian factions since the coup.<br \/>\n\u201cWe renewed our previous commitment for the military institution to exit power and leave the governance to civilian (factions),\u201d said Daglo, also commonly known as Hemeti, on Twitter.<br \/>\nHe said the generals \u201cagreed unequivocally that civilian (factions) should choose the civilian head of the Sovereignty Council and prime minister.\u201d<br \/>\nHe said that the military institution would then \u201cdevote itself completely to its duties as stipulated in the constitution and the law.\u201d<br \/>\nSudan has been rocked by turmoil since Burhan led a military coup in October last year that ousted the mainstream civilian bloc from power and triggered widespread international condemnation.<br \/>\nNear-weekly anti-coup protests, a spiraling economic crisis and a rise in ethnic clashes in Sudan\u2019s remote regions have since fed into the deepening unrest.<br \/>\nIn July, Al-Burhan pledged in a televised address to step aside and make way for Sudanese factions to agree on a civilian government.<br \/>\nCivilian leaders dismissed the move as a \u201cruse,\u201d and pro-democracy protesters have maintained their rallying cry of \u201cno negotiation, no partnership\u201d with the military.<br \/>\nSeveral initiatives have emerged in recent months in attempts to resolve Sudan\u2019s political crisis but none has made any significant headway.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KHARTOUM: Sudan\u2019s generals have agreed to leave the choice of future heads of state and prime ministers to civilian political factions, the deputy head of the military government has announced.
