Al Jazeera\u2019s Kimberly Halkett, reporting from the White House, said the Ukrainian president would \u201ccertainly ask\u201d the US for air defence systems, but whether that request would be granted was \u201ca big question mark.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAccording to the national security spokesperson, John Kirby, no decision has been made,\u201d Halkett said.<\/p>\n

The granting of an additional $24bn in aid to Ukraine was also likely to be a point of contention. Democrats \u201cseem to be more in favour,\u201d Halkett said, \u201cbut what Zelenskyy is facing is an increasingly sceptical Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
