Can Zelenskyy obtain air defence systems from the US?
Al Jazeera’s Kimberly Halkett, reporting from the White House, said the Ukrainian president would “certainly ask” the US for air defence systems, but whether that request would be granted was “a big question mark.”
“According to the national security spokesperson, John Kirby, no decision has been made,” Halkett said.
The granting of an additional $24bn in aid to Ukraine was also likely to be a point of contention. Democrats “seem to be more in favour,” Halkett said, “but what Zelenskyy is facing is an increasingly sceptical Congress.”
