I’m A Celebrity: Caitlyn Jenner, 70, strips down to black bikini to try out the jungle shower

2312

It’s been an eventful 24 hours in the jungle for Caitlyn Jenner.

The reality star, 70, spent the early hours of her first morning having a cry, while her campmates still slept – before eventually trying out the jungle shower.

Caitlyn was seen leaving her bed to cry, later telling the Bush Telegraph: ‘Being the first night in the Jungle my head was spinning. I’m kinda trying to figure out if I’m doing the right thing.

‘I’m 70 years old now and is being in here the right way to use my time. Should I be home with my kids, playing with the grandchildren?

‘I’ve never quit at anything I’ve ever done and I’m thinking maybe it’s time I learned how to do that!’

When everyone had woken up later in the morning, James Haskell turned to Caitlyn and asked: ‘Did you wake up this morning and think “OMG, it’s real, I’m actually in the Jungle with all these idiots?”‘

Caitlyn replied: ‘No actually, I woke up in the middle of the night. I had a tough night.’

James then decided to have a shower, with the other celebrities having to pour water down an open pipe.

The celebrities continued to chat, moving on to Caitlyn’s transition from Bruce.

‘I thought I was gonna transition before I was 40, I didn’t want to be an old chick but this is the latter 80s and I never felt like I fitted in anywhere. I was trying to figure myself out, running around town, cross dressing, running around.

‘At the time, I had a turbo Porsche and it was like the day before Halloween and this car pulled up beside me and it’s my next door neighbour. I said I was going to a Halloween party!’

Talking in the Bush Telegraph, Ian Wright said: ‘Caitlyn talking about herself is just so interesting, I’m fascinated.’

It was Kate and Caitlyn who had to undertake the first Bushtucker Trial of the season later in the day.

Taking part in Bugged Off, the trial involved them both being inside clear boxes filled with 50,000 creepy crawlies and rats with Kate, 52, claiming it would be her biggest fear.

Oh dear: Kate had said before entering the jungle - 'I am terrified of all of the things in the Jungle, especially heights It is the crazy heights on thin bits suspended on bits of metal or wood. Or if you are in a little box with creepy crawlies or snakes in it'

Ant and Dec explained the Trial. The two campers would be strapped on their backs in perspex cages 20 metres in the air. In each cage were 20 coloured balls.

Each celebrity had to drop the balls out of a hole in the front of the cage into a moving basket below. For each ball that went into the basket, they would get a meal for camp.

They started the Trial as 30,000 cockroaches were poured into each cage. The two celebrities carefully aimed and tried to drop the balls into the moving basket. ‘I don’t know what to do I can’t think. They’re going up my noo-noo!’ screamed Kate.

After a few near misses, Caitlyn managed to get a ball in the basket. This was shortly followed by Kate, as crickets and mealworms joined the cockroaches and rats that were already in each cage.

Changing camps! In a twist, Ant and Dec phoned the Main Camp and told them that they could rescue one of either Kate or Caitlyn and that celebrity would then move to Main Camp. They chose Kate to join them

Caitlyn carefully aimed and a number of the balls just hit the rim of the basket. Kate was less careful but by the end of the Trial both women had managed to drop two balls into the basket making a total of four meals for camp.

Kate said: ‘That was so much more disturbing than I thought it would be. It’s a confined box which I find really scary, it’s up very high and then you’ve got everything you’ve ever been scared of in one place!’

Both women complained that they had bugs in their underwear. Caitlyn had to have a cockroach removed from her ear with a syringe by Bob the medic.

In a twist, Ant and Dec phoned the Main Camp and told them that they could rescue one of either Kate or Caitlyn and that celebrity would then move to Main Camp. They chose Kate to join them.

Over in Main Camp, Kate and the others asked Roman Kemp about his ‘uncle’ George Michael and famous family.

As he discussed the late singer, the Capital radio DJ, 26, revealed that George had gatecrashed his mum’s first date with his dad Martin Kemp.

Spandau Ballet and EastEnders star Martin is married to Wham! singer, Shirlie Holliman, with her former bandmate, George, being Roman’s godfather.

Conversation turned to Roman’s famous relatives when Kate admitted she used to have a picture of Martin on her wall.

Gushing over the Gold hitmaker, the Good Morning Britain host said: ‘I really love your dad. I don’t know if I’ve ever told him. He was my absolute favourite.’

The radio star then spoke of his Godfather, adding: 'My mother always said that she said to George Michael at a party that she was going to marry him (Roman's father)' [Shirlie and George pictured in 1993, second right and far right]

While Roman said of him: ‘My dad is my best mate. 100%. I speak to him every day.’

He then went on to speak of his parents marriage, where he soon mentioned George’s former Wham! bandmate Andrew Ridgley.

After stating that his parents got together when they were 22, Roman explained: ‘My mum’s first boyfriend was Andrew Ridgely. To my knowledge, my mum’s only ever kissed two people in her life.’

‘That’s a pretty good dating history isn’t it?’ replied an impressed Kate.

The radio star then spoke of his Godfather, whom he affectionately calls ‘uncle’, adding: ‘My mother always said that she said to George Michael at a party that she was going to marry him. (Roman’s father).

‘They were at some party and she didn’t want to speak to him (Martin) and one of George’s friends brought him over and they started talking and my dad gave my mum his phone number and my mum went back to George’s house and George forced my mum to call him.’

He then revealed the Last Christmas singer gatecrashed their first date, adding: ‘But their first date, George went with them. My mum didn’t want to go on her own. They went to see Sade at the Camden Palace. My dad spent the whole date trying to get rid of him.’

As he discussed his family’s history, Roman went on to gush about George, whom he called ‘amazing’ and shared fond memories of the star.

‘He was an amazing guy. He was my uncle. You’d see him at dinners, Christmas, the lot. It is really nice that all the memories I have are so nice, going on holidays, and having my parents compete with Christmas presents.

‘One year, I must have been 4 or 5 and my dad bought me a bike, a Raleigh bike. I remember George came round to the house and brought in my present and he’d gone to Harrods and bought one of those electric cars but not just that, it was a batmobile. I’ve still got it.

‘Memories like that, they’re so nice to have but it’s strange because for me it was just my mum’s best mate.’

As his campmates hung on his every word, Roman went on to joke about his father, quipping that he couldn’t sing or couldn’t play an instrument when he first started in Spandau Ballet.

Ian continued: ‘I couldn’t believe I got left out of 96, I cried for days. He took Robbie Fowler and Les Ferdinand who are obviously top players, unbelievable players but I was devastated.’
