Meanwhile, the party\u2019s manifesto also outlined tough new rules for landlords \u2013 including giving cities the power to cap rents, and tenants the power to set up new \u2018renters\u2019 unions\u2019. <\/p>\n
The Labour leader also confirmed the party would scrap the right to buy \u2013 preventing council tenants from getting a foot on the housing ladder. <\/p>\n
On top of this, capital gains tax on the sales of second homes will soar \u2013 and income tax will go up for all earning above \u00a380,000.<\/p>\n
The plans were slammed by Lord Tebbit, who said the policies were an attack on aspiration.<\/p>\n
He added: \u2018The way to ensure the working classes get a leg up is to allow them to keep more of their money and to buy their house. <\/p>\n
The only people who get better off in a Marxist society are the leaders who all get very rich.\u2019 <\/p>\n
He also accused Labour of wanting \u2018a classless society where everyone is in the lowest possible class\u2019.<\/p>\n

The party also pledged a crackdown on those who rent out their homes or rooms using Airbnb. <\/p>\n
The Labour manifesto said the party in government would operate on the basis that \u2018returns from wealth should not be taxed less than those from income\u2019.<\/p>\n
It said: \u2018Currently people can earn more income from buying property than from working for a living, and they can pay lower taxes on that. This is not just economically inefficient but socially unfair.\u2019 <\/p>\n
An open border \u2018free for all\u2019 <\/h3>\n\nPlans to unleash an immigration free-for-all were revealed by Labour yesterday.<\/p>\n
The party\u2019s manifesto suggested free movement of workers from the EU would continue under Labour\u2019s Brexit proposals because of the \u2018social and economic benefits\u2019 it has brought.<\/p>\n
Labour would also institute a visa system with no limits, which would allow non-EU migrants in to fill \u2018any skills or labour shortages that arise\u2019. Immigration detention centres used to lock up dangerous foreign criminals would close, and minimum salary requirements for bringing family members from overseas would go.<\/p>\n
Jeremy Corbyn also wants to create \u2018safe and legal routes\u2019 for asylum seekers to come to the UK.<\/p>\n
Security minister Brandon Lewis said: \u2018A Labour government would mean unlimited and uncontrolled immigration putting pressure on our public services.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
The manifesto claimed that the tax on second homes would raise \u00a3560million a year.<\/p>\n
It said: \u2018We will bring in a new national levy on second homes used as holiday homes to help deal with the homelessness crisis, so that those who have done well from the housing market pay a bit more to help those with no home.\u2019<\/p>\n
The levy charged on holiday homes will be equivalent to 200 per cent of the current council tax bill for the property.<\/p>\n
And the document confirmed huge inheritance tax rises. While the Tories will limit inheritance tax to couples leaving their children \u00a31million or more, Labour will take that back to \u00a3650,000 for couples.<\/p>\n
It means children will be able to inherit less from their parents than at present. The plan will raise more than \u00a3700million for the exchequer.<\/p>\n
Labour also said it would scrap the Tories\u2019 married tax allowance, which means people can transfer 10 per cent of their income tax personal allowance to their partner so they can save on tax.<\/p>\n
Mr Corbyn pledged that a Labour government would go after \u2018dodgy landlords\u2019. He said: \u2018I accept the implacable opposition of the dodgy landlords because we will build a million homes, empower tenants and control rents \u2013 that\u2019s real change. <\/p>\n
‘If you\u2019re a tenant, Labour is on your side.\u2019 He added: \u2018We\u2019ll launch the biggest council house-building programme since the 1960s and cap rents.\u2019<\/p>\n
\nSchool fees grab ‘to force out 30,000 pupils’ <\/h3>\n\nMore than 30,000 pupils would be forced into the state sector by Labour plans to impose VAT on private school fees, the party admitted yesterday.<\/p>\n
Labour confirmed it would saddle fee-paying parents with punitive taxes \u2013 and suggests private schools could be abolished.<\/p>\n
The move on VAT could add 20 per cent to the cost of educating a child privately, meaning average termly fees of \u00a34,600 for day pupils would potentially rise by around \u00a3900. Documents show the party expects five per cent of all independent pupils to switch to state education due to sky-high fees \u2013 the equivalent of around 31,500 children.<\/p>\n
Forcing tens of thousands of fee-paying families into the state sector will create even more pressure on stretched schools, with the taxpayer left to foot the bill.<\/p>\n
The party also committed to seeking advice on integrating private schools into the state \u2013 potentially paving the road to their abolition and seizure of their assets.<\/p>\n
But the Headmasters\u2019 and Headmistresses\u2019 Conference (HMC), which represents top private schools such as Eton, said Labour had underestimated the impact of their policies. Analysis by consultants Baines Cutler found putting VAT on fees would force more than 20 per cent of pupils into the state sector \u2013 about 135,000.<\/p>\n
They said this would cost the taxpayer at least \u00a3416million in the fifth year through funding extra places in state schools.<\/p>\n
Mike Buchanan, HMC executive director, said: \u2018Any further tax is putting politics before pupils and will have serious unforeseen consequences. It will hurt hard-working parents and drive up class sizes.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Labour would introduce rules to crack down on private landlords and the rent they charge. Rent rises will be capped at inflation, and local authorities will be given the power to impose further caps.<\/p>\n
The party will make it harder for landlords to evict private renters by giving them open-ended tenancies \u2013 and there will be tougher sanctions on landlords who fail to meet minimum standards.<\/p>\n
The manifesto said: \u2018More than 11million people rent from a private landlord and many of them are at the sharp end of the housing crisis. We will take urgent action to protect private renters… Labour will stop runaway rents by capping them with inflation, and give cities powers to cap rents further.<\/p>\n
\u2018We will give renters the security they need to make their rented housing a home, with new open-ended tenancies to stop unfair, \u201cno fault\u201d evictions. We will make sure every property is up to scratch with new minimum standards, enforced through nationwide licensing and tougher sanctions for landlords who flout the rules.\u2019<\/p>\n
Labour also promised \u2018renters\u2019 unions\u2019 to \u2018allow renters to organise and defend their rights\u2019, and would \u2018give councils new powers to regulate short-term lets through companies such as Airbnb\u2019.<\/p>\n
Kristian Niemietz, head of political economy at the Institute of Economic Affairs, said: \u2018Capping rent would not add a single flat to the country\u2019s housing stock.<\/p>\n
\u2018On the contrary: this would entice the \u201cmarginal landlord\u201d \u2013 the person for whom the decision to be a landlord is a borderline decision \u2013 to leave the market, making the housing crisis worse.\u2019<\/p>\n
The manifesto confirmed those earning more than \u00a380,000 will pay more income tax. The additional rate of 45p in the pound will kick in at \u00a380,000 instead of \u00a3150,000, and anyone earning over \u00a3125,000 will pay a \u2018Super-Rich Rate\u2019 of 50p. This will raise \u00a35.4billion.<\/p>\n
Capital gains tax on sales of a business, a second home, family heirlooms and shares will go up. Rates are currently 5, 10 or 20 per cent \u2013 but will increase dramatically to the same level as income tax.<\/p>\n

Jeremy Corbyn also wants to create \u2018safe and legal routes\u2019 for asylum seekers to come to the UK.<\/p>\n

The manifesto claimed that the tax on second homes would raise \u00a3560million a year.<\/p>\n
It said: \u2018We will bring in a new national levy on second homes used as holiday homes to help deal with the homelessness crisis, so that those who have done well from the housing market pay a bit more to help those with no home.\u2019<\/p>\n
The levy charged on holiday homes will be equivalent to 200 per cent of the current council tax bill for the property.<\/p>\n
And the document confirmed huge inheritance tax rises. While the Tories will limit inheritance tax to couples leaving their children \u00a31million or more, Labour will take that back to \u00a3650,000 for couples.<\/p>\n
It means children will be able to inherit less from their parents than at present. The plan will raise more than \u00a3700million for the exchequer.<\/p>\n
Labour also said it would scrap the Tories\u2019 married tax allowance, which means people can transfer 10 per cent of their income tax personal allowance to their partner so they can save on tax.<\/p>\n
Mr Corbyn pledged that a Labour government would go after \u2018dodgy landlords\u2019. He said: \u2018I accept the implacable opposition of the dodgy landlords because we will build a million homes, empower tenants and control rents \u2013 that\u2019s real change. <\/p>\n
‘If you\u2019re a tenant, Labour is on your side.\u2019 He added: \u2018We\u2019ll launch the biggest council house-building programme since the 1960s and cap rents.\u2019<\/p>\n
School fees grab ‘to force out 30,000 pupils’ <\/h3>\n\nMore than 30,000 pupils would be forced into the state sector by Labour plans to impose VAT on private school fees, the party admitted yesterday.<\/p>\n

Forcing tens of thousands of fee-paying families into the state sector will create even more pressure on stretched schools, with the taxpayer left to foot the bill.<\/p>\n
The party also committed to seeking advice on integrating private schools into the state \u2013 potentially paving the road to their abolition and seizure of their assets.<\/p>\n
But the Headmasters\u2019 and Headmistresses\u2019 Conference (HMC), which represents top private schools such as Eton, said Labour had underestimated the impact of their policies. Analysis by consultants Baines Cutler found putting VAT on fees would force more than 20 per cent of pupils into the state sector \u2013 about 135,000.<\/p>\n
They said this would cost the taxpayer at least \u00a3416million in the fifth year through funding extra places in state schools.<\/p>\n
Mike Buchanan, HMC executive director, said: \u2018Any further tax is putting politics before pupils and will have serious unforeseen consequences. It will hurt hard-working parents and drive up class sizes.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Labour would introduce rules to crack down on private landlords and the rent they charge. Rent rises will be capped at inflation, and local authorities will be given the power to impose further caps.<\/p>\n
The party will make it harder for landlords to evict private renters by giving them open-ended tenancies \u2013 and there will be tougher sanctions on landlords who fail to meet minimum standards.<\/p>\n
The manifesto said: \u2018More than 11million people rent from a private landlord and many of them are at the sharp end of the housing crisis. We will take urgent action to protect private renters… Labour will stop runaway rents by capping them with inflation, and give cities powers to cap rents further.<\/p>\n
\u2018We will give renters the security they need to make their rented housing a home, with new open-ended tenancies to stop unfair, \u201cno fault\u201d evictions.
