{"id":137373,"date":"2019-11-22T16:25:39","date_gmt":"2019-11-22T13:25:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-7714047\/Ultra-high-resolution-aerial-images-reveal-worlds-astonishing-mega-cities.html?ns_mchannel=rss&amp;ito=1490&amp;ns_campaign=1490"},"modified":"2019-11-22T16:25:39","modified_gmt":"2019-11-22T13:25:39","slug":"ultra-high-resolution-aerial-images-reveal-some-of-the-worlds-most-astonishing-mega-cities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/wardoon.net\/so\/ultra-high-resolution-aerial-images-reveal-some-of-the-worlds-most-astonishing-mega-cities\/","title":{"rendered":"Ultra-high-resolution aerial images reveal some of the world&#8217;s most astonishing mega-cities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span class=\"mol-style-bold\">Ultra-high-resolution aerial images of the world&#8217;s megacities picture life from above for the 55 per cent of the population living in bustling metropolises.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span class=\"mol-style-bold\">Photographer Ryan Koopmans, 33, spent ten years travelling all over the world to capture mankind&#8217;s greatest triumphs,<span>&nbsp;touring&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span class=\"mol-style-bold\">Asia, Africa, Europe, North America and South America and compiling the views as he went.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span class=\"mol-style-bold\">Now a decade later Koopmans has released his compilation entitled <a target=\"_blank\" class=\"class\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.blackdogonline.com\/imported-products-16\/vantage-ryan-koopmans\">Vantage<\/a>&nbsp;as a book&nbsp;featuring some of the world&#8217;s most awe-inspiring views in the most densely populated cities.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span class=\"mol-style-bold\">His pictures showcase the stunning variation in architecture in places like Dubai, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/singapore\/index.html\" id=\"mol-2a03e950-0d22-11ea-a4cc-91a5bfdb7785\">Singapore<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/london\/index.html\" id=\"mol-2a037420-0d22-11ea-a4cc-91a5bfdb7785\">London<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/south_africa\/index.html\" id=\"mol-2a041060-0d22-11ea-a4cc-91a5bfdb7785\">South Africa<\/a>, Rotterdam and Chicago.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span class=\"mol-style-bold\">But with the global population growing at an unprecedented rate the emerging megalopolises all have one thing in common &#8211; they are densely packed, home to 4.14 billion people, over half the population.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span class=\"mol-style-bold\">The&nbsp;Dutch-Canadian photographer said: &#8216;I have spent the last decade working in travel, documentary and architecture photography and have therefore been extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to visit many places around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span class=\"mol-style-bold\">&#8216;What interests me most are not specific buildings or landmarks, but the lived experiences of the people who interact with them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span class=\"mol-style-bold\">&#8216;The growth of global populations has led to rapid urbanization and the emergence of megacities.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span class=\"mol-style-bold\">To capture the masterpieces the award-winning photographer searches for the dizzy heights of a skyscraper, rooftop or mountain.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span class=\"mol-style-bold\">Adding: &#8216;I sometimes use a drone but I prefer not to, as shooting with the handheld camera gives me more control of the framing and a higher resolution.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"mol-img-group xwArtSplitter\">\n<div class=\"mol-img\">\n<div class=\"image-wrap\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"i-7a9c949b49e11569\" src=\"http:\/\/wardoon.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/ultra-high-resolution-aerial-images-reveal-some-of-the-worlds-most-astonishing-mega-cities-1.jpg\" height=\"1444\" width=\"962\" alt=\"Temple of Commerce, a night street market in Kowloon, Hong Kong, November 2018.
