US President Joe Biden has condemned the Iranian drone attacks on military facilities in Israel, reiterating Washington DC\u2019s \u201cironclad\u201d support and a coordinated Group of Seven (G7) diplomatic response, even as reports started to emerge that he is also seeking to de-escalate the situation.<\/p>\n
Biden cut short a trip to Delaware and returned to the US capital to meet advisers following the late Saturday night attack, the White House said in a statement.<\/p>\n
The statement said that US forces and facilities had not been hit, adding that the US helped Israel in taking down \u201cnearly all\u201d of the attacking drones and missiles.<\/p>\n
The US president also he reiterated the \u201cironclad\u201d support for Israel\u2019s security in a call with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with whom he has had strained relations over Israel\u2019s handling of the war in Gaza.<\/p>\n
\u201cI told him that Israel demonstrated a remarkable capacity to defend against and defeat even unprecedented attacks \u2013 sending a clear message to its foes that they cannot effectively threaten the security of Israel,\u201d the White House quoted Biden as saying.<\/p>\n
\u201cTomorrow, I will convene my fellow G7 leaders to coordinate a united diplomatic response to Iran\u2019s brazen attack,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
