An Australian makeup artist and beauty influencer has called Kim Kardashian West’s shapewear company ‘disappointing’ after purchasing over $800 worth of product.
Lauren Curtis, who is based in Perth, Western Australia, bought crop tops, t-shirts, bras and bike shorts from the iconic Skims brand, hoping they would match other minimalist pieces in her wardrobe and ‘suck in her stomach area’.
But the 26-year-old was left disheartened by the price of shipping Down Under, how certain styles sat on her waist and how difficult it is to make returns.

‘I spent over AUD$800 on her website and still had to pay $35 for full price shipping to Australia. I was shocked. I don’t want to sound like a spoiled brat but I think that is so gross and greedy,’ she said in a YouTube video.
With Kardashian believed to have spent $10million on the first drop, and promising to sell colours and sizes for women of all shapes, Lauren was initially excited to put them to the test.
Things started off well with Skims’ range of comfortable T-shirt bras ($76AUD) proving to be a ‘win’ for the pint-sized blonde.
However she did claim they looked remarkably similar to Victoria’s Secret lingerie, with appropriate padding to prevent her nipples from showing through on a cold day.
The process of finding your size online was also exhausting and difficult to understand.

Lauren wasn’t so fond of the cotton rib tank ($49AUD) in the bone colour because it didn’t lift her pale complexion and the sheer bodysuit ($79AUD) didn’t hold in her stomach
Lauren liked the high waisted bike shorts ($144AUD) because of their heavy duty fabric and ability to stay in place even when you’re moving around.
‘But it does cut into the squishy part of my leg which wouldn’t be flattering if I was wearing a dress,’ she said.

‘It makes my boobs look like they’re a weird shape,’ she said of the sexy black bodysuit.

In some of the pieces her body ‘spilled out of the sides’ and she was hoping to return a few of the items to America.
But that’s when she encountered another problem: There is a $6 ‘restock fee’ alongside the normal $35 shipping tax to send back the items.
Lauren almost considered not sending them back to save some of her hard-earned cash.
Despite Lauren’s criticisms Kardashian’s Skims business is on track to become a billion-dollar business – just like younger sister Kylie Jenner’s makeup brand.

TMZ reported: ‘Kim’s massive restock release on Wednesday was actually more successful than the initial launch… netting millions in just minutes.
‘We’re told that over a million people were on the wait list for the restock, and that almost instantly… the most popular sizes and styles sold out.’
Her current net worth is estimated to be $370million.
