Wild video shows the moment when a fighter jet flying over Hawaii speeds through another aircraft’s contrail. 

Video shared by US Air National Guard Technical Sergeant Phillip Cowen shows the moment when a 138th Fighter Wing Tulsa F-16 Viper clears through the air stream. 

In the footage, the jet manages to fly next to the stream for an extended period of time.

It then dips behind the contrail, sending vapors all over the windshield of the jet. 

The aircraft quickly darts out of the other side of the trail. 

It flies around the trail and gets out of the way as the clip comes to a close.

The jet was flying over the Pacific Missile Range Facility on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. 

It was taking part in an air-to-air exercise, assisting Navy personnel on the validation of weapons systems. 

The brief clip was filmed on April 11, 2017.
