These are the first pictures of a mother and her 16-year-old daughter who died when a tree fell onto the car in the flood-hit Cotswolds.

Elaine Reason, 56, and Grace were driving in a Landrover Freelander along the B4077 near the Cotswolds town of Winchcombe when the incident happened on Thursday.

Today tributes poured in from heartbroken friends, one of whom described them as the ‘kindest people you could ever meet’.

Another wrote: ‘We are going to miss then both so much. Grace [was] such a massive kind hearted girl that has been taken way too early.

‘The sky has gained its brightest star yet. Rest in peace both Grace and Elaine. Massive hugs to Tim, Philip, Caroline and the rest of the grieving family.’

Police said they were informed of the incident at 10.15pm and are investigating what happened.

Gloucestershire Police said: ‘Their next of kin has been informed.

‘The road remains closed north of Ford and at the Toddington roundabout while police are at the scene.

‘It is not yet known when the road will reopen and motorists are asked to find alternative routes.’

Anyone who witnessed the incident should contact Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident 405 of November 21.
