Rupert Grint has confirmed that his Harry Potter co-stars Emma Watson and Tom Felton had a secret ‘playground romance’ during filming the hit J. K. Rowling franchise.
The Ron Weasley actor, 31, admitted there was ‘always something’ between the Draco Malfoy star, 32, and Hermione Granger actress, 29, despite being on-screen enemies.
Rupert said there was a ‘spark’ between the two stars during filming for the Harry Potter franchise, which took place for from 2001 until 2011.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he said: ‘There was always something. There was a little bit of a spark.
‘But we were kids. It was like any kind of playground romance.’
Rupert’s interview comes after Tom proudly supported Emma’s recent declaration that she identified as being ‘self-partnered’.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, the actor called the Little Women star an ‘incredibly smart and lovely young lady’, before admitting he was also ‘happily self-partnered.’
Emma recently confirmed that she was identifying as ‘self-partnered’ rather than single in an interview, and while Tom admitted he hadn’t seen the article, he ‘liked’ what she had said.
‘I like it! It’s the first I’ve heard of it, but it’s great. I’m in the same category to be honest with you, quite happily self-partnered,’ he explained, before calling his one-year-old Labrador Willow his ‘partner.’
Tom continued: ‘I think in this day and age it’s not a necessity to be with someone just for the sake of being with someone, so I like the idea of self-partnering.

The pair often see each other in Los Angeles as they live close to one another.
Tom gushed: ‘It’s always nice to bump into her, see her at the beach, or over dinner, or whatever.
‘She’s an incredibly smart and lovely young lady, so it’s always nice to bump into each other and slightly reminisce about old times but also about looking forward to the future.’

Revealing he had heard from Daniel Radcliffe on Wednesday as he’s working with a fellow acquaintance, the Draco Malfoy star joked that he lives in ‘a bit of a Hogwarts alumni block’ as he also meets up with Bonnie Wright and Matt Lewis on occasion.
‘It’s always a treat to see any of them, and the moment we get back into a room together it’s like no time has passed at all,’ he admitted happily.
Looking back on Harry Potter, Tom told MailOnline he would happily return to his character if asked: ‘Go back to Hogwarts one more time?
