This is the terrifying moment a ‘drunk driver’ veers across lanes of the M25 before clipping a people carrier and then crashing into the central barrier.

The dashcam footage was captured by a driver who was following the weaving Corsa on the M25 near Dartford on the way to Sevenoaks, Kent.

The driver was so concerned with what he saw that he carried on following the car whilst on the phone to the police for 10 minutes describing what was happening.

The video begins with the car weaving out of the lines in the outside lane of the motorway before cutting dangerously close in front of a white car in the middle lane.

After a few minutes the Corsa then attempts to move into the inside lane but in the process clips a people carrier which the driver claims had a mother and child inside.

Further down the motorway the car then eventually crashes into the central reservation, swerves back out into the middle of the road and spins to face traffic in the wrong direction.

The driver filming says he then pulled over, got out his car and went to check if the woman was okay.

He says she appeared to be drunk, was slurring her words and said she told him she had had her last drink at 1am the night before.

He added that the police then arrived and breathalysed her.

The driver said: ‘Looking back now at the potential consequences it is really scary.

‘She swerved in front of me first and I thought, this doesn’t look right, I thought she might have been ill or something.

‘I carried on following her and phoned the police to tell them what was happening. I wanted to prevent her or anyone else being involved in an accident.

‘When I spoke to her afterwards she didn’t seem to understand the consequences of her actions at all and I could smell alcohol on her breath.

‘It made me so angry, it was a Sunday afternoon and there are all these families travelling home and she could have really hurt someone.

‘Why would you risk it? Other drivers had stopped too and and said they thought she could have killed someone.’

Kent Police said: ‘We were called at 12.20pm on Sunday 24 November 2019 to a collision on the clockwise M25 between junctions 4 and 5.

‘Officers attended and arrested Hani Mahamed, aged 22 of Palmers Road, London on suspicion of driving whilst over the legal alcohol limit.

‘Ms Mahamed was later charged with this offence and has been bailed to appear before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on 7 January 2020.’
